Alessandro Carrega was born in Novi Ligure, Italy. He received his “Laurea” degree (equivalent to MSc) in Computer Engineering at the University of Genoa in 2008.
He is currently a PhD student within the Telecommunication Networks and Telematics Lab. (TNT) at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, and Naval Architecture (DITEN) of the University of Genoa. He is a member of CNIT, the Italian Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications.
He has co-authored several papers in international conference proceedings. In 2010, he won the best paper award at the 3rd Int. Workshop on Green Communications (GreenCom10) co-located with the IEEE Globecom Conference.
In 2011 he was a Visiting PhD Scholar at Portland State University (PSU), Portland, OR, USA under the supervisor of Prof. Suresh Singh.
His main research interests include green networking, software routers, network virtualization and OpenFlow.
