Roberto Bruschi was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1977. He received his "laurea" degree (equivalent to MSc) in Telecommunication Engineering in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2006 from the University of Genoa.
He is currently Associate Professor at DITEN, University of Genoa.
Roberto has been the coordinator of the INPUT ("In-Network Programmability for next-generation personal cloUd service supporT") project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program. Roberto is also the Principal Investigator of the GreenNet project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Research and Education under the FIRB "Futuro in Ricerca" program. He took part to the activities of many national and European projects (e.g., FP7 IP ECONET, FP7 NoE TREND, PRIN SORPASSO and EFFICIENT). In the ECONET project, he served as technical project manager for monitoring the R&D activities of the entire project. He also leaded four Econet technical tasks.
Roberto actively collaborates with many industries, such as Telecom Italia, NetLogic, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, etc., and industrial fora, like GeSI.
He has co-authored over 110 papers in international journals, book chapters and international conference proceedings. He also acts as reviewer for many different international journals and conferences. From May 2015, Roberto serves as Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications - Series on Green Communications and Networking and for the IEEE Communications Magazine. In 2009, Roberto won the best paper award at the IEEE ICC conference, and in 2010 at the IEEE GreenCom workshop.
Roberto is a Senior Member of IEEE Communication Society. His current main research interests include green networking, software defined networks, network function virtualization, and cloud networking.
